Meet the RHA Executive Board 2014-2015
President: Tiffany Chen
Tiffany is currently a senior at the University of Connecticut. She is majoring in Marketing and minoring in Spanish. Since freshman year, she has been involved with RHA. She started out as a Floor Representative for McMahon Area Council and has been a part of the RHA Executive Board since her sophomore year. This year she looks forward to taking on a new role on the RHA executive board and leading the organization in a positive direction through her experiences. Some of her goals for RHA this year are to establish and build a stronger relationship with our sister organization, National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), build a greater connection with the individual Area Councils and collaborate with other UConn entities to become more prominent on campus. Besides RHA, she also serves on the board of the Student Union Board of Governors (SUBOG) as the Major Weekends Chair, a student worker at the Alumni Center and a member of several honor societies at UConn, such as the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Lambda Delta and NRHH. She is very dedicated and passionate about RHA and is looking forward to being a part of the Executive Board for another year to help continue to enhance and grow the organization.
Vice President: Matt Martinelli
Matt is a junior studying Computer Science and Math at the University of Connecticut. He is a top Super Smash Bros. Melee player in the UConn Smash club and the state of Connecticut as wells as an avid disc golf player, being also involved with the UConn Frisbee Golf Club. Matt served as Vice President of the Towers Area Council for the 2013-2014 year.
Chief Financial Officer: Kim Sun
Kim Sun is a sophomore ACES major/Studio Arts Minor with an interest in education and marketing. She was CFO of United Towers Organization from 2012-2013 and hopes to become more involved in the community this year. Her favorite part of being in organizations such as RHA and YOUCreate is working as a team to program events, exploring innovation, and learning what it takes to become an entrepreneur. Outside of schoolwork, she enjoys activities such as ultimate frisbee, running, design, photography and drawing dogs.
Secretary: Tiffany Tu
Tiffany is a senior from Stamford, CT majoring in actuarial science. Besides being a part of RHA, she is also part of RHA's sister organization, NRHH (National Residence Hall Honorary) and works as a student supervisor at The Front Desk. In the past, she has served on Busby's area council as president and also Towers' area council as secretary. In her free time, Tiffany loves doing yoga, discovering new music, cooking, and trying new foods.
Director of Programming: Alexis McIlwain
Alexis is currently a junior and is a Pathobiology major. Originally from Portland, Maine, she came to the University of Connecticut in hopes of gaining new experiences. She worked on North’s area council last year as part of the general board and was approached by one of the advisors to join RHA. On top of RHA she works for the Counseling Program for Intercollegiate Athletes. She looks forward to a great year with RHA and to working with all of you!
Director of Promotions: Mary Olmsted
Mary Olmsted is currently a sophomore studying Mass Communication at the University of Connecticut. She was on the North Area Council executive board last year as Social Coordinator and is still a very active member of the Area Council. Mary is also an Resident Assistant for North Campus and works for Nutmeg Yearbook. She loves to be creative and think outside of the box. She always tries to bring good energy to any group she is involved with and a smile to everyones face.
Director of Advocacy: Tyler Lemoine
Tyler Lemoine is a junior majoring in pathobiology and minoring in political science from Southington, CT. He is a director for UConn’s Model UN and volunteers for Habitat for Humanity. He also holds a job for UConn Dining Services, Rainbow Center receptionist, and acts as a CPIA tutor. Outside of work and academia, Tyler loves to dance, hang out with friends, and read as much as possible. In the future, Tyler hopes to get either involved in disease research or work in politics as a lead political advisor in the hopes of being able to shape public policy. As Director of Advocacy, Tyler hopes to address various residential issues.
National Communication Coordinator: Chris Salvatore
Chris is a senior at the University of Connecticut and is a double major in Psychology and Communications. He is now serving as the National Communications Coordinator for the Residence Hall Association (RHA) Executive Board. He has traveled to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for the NEACURH 2014 Minis Conference and to the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire for the NACURH 2014 Annual Conference. He has interests in automotive, singing, dancing, arts, movies and athletics. He is always open to learning new skills and enjoys hanging out with friends and family.
Position Description: The RHA Advisors are staff members of the Department of Residential Life. The Advisors serve as resources for RHA members and make RHA members aware of policies and procedures of the Department of Residential Life, student organization policies of the Department of Student Activities and the Student Code. They assist RHA in all matters including, but not limited to legislation, programming, and conferences. Advisors help with elections and maintain a connection with Area Council Advisors. The RHA Advisors do not have a vote on the General Board or the Executive Board.
Bio: Kim is the Assistant Director of Residence Education at UConn for Area 4, which includes Hilltop Apartments, McMahon, CTC and Northwest. She received a B.S. in Social Work and a M.A. in Community Counseling from Saint Joseph College in West Hartford Connecticut. Kim has been in the field of Student Affairs for 8 years and loves working with college students. Kim served as a Hall Council Advisor for 2 years and worked closely with RHA at Roger Williams University. She is very excited to be at UConn and looking forward to supporting RHA this year.

Bio: Jennifer is in her first year at UConn serving as a Hall Director for Hilltop Apartments and an Advisor for RHA. She recently received her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University where she spent the last two years working as a Graduate Assistant Residence Hall Director. Born and raised in Connecticut, Jennifer received her undergraduate education at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island and after her time in Arizona is happy to be back in the New England area. Jennifer enjoys her job and loves working with student leaders on UConn’s campus. Go Huskies!

Bio: Willie is coming from Springfield College where he spent the past two years as a Resident Director while completing his graduate work. Willie is a native of Connecticut and is excited to be a Residence Hall Director for North Campus and be part of the Residence Education team. Willie’s interests in Student Affairs have been influenced by his graduate work in residence life, student conduct, admissions and financial aid. He also has interests in student activities, Greek life, multicultural affairs, orientation and first year experience programs. Outside of the University, Willie’s interests include being a DJ, playing football, baseball, basketball, watching and attending athletic events, spending time with friends, and being with his family.

Bio: Aisha is an Assistant Residence Hall Director for Alumni Halls and an RHA advisor. She is currently a master’s student in the Higher Education and Student Affairs program here at UConn. Originally from Central New Jersey, Aisha was raised by Jamaican parents who instilled culture and values into her upbringing. After growing up in a small, yet culturally diverse, town Aisha ventured off to North Philadelphia for her four years of undergrad at Temple University. She discovered her passion for student affairs early on through her involvement as a student leader. After graduating May 2013 Aisha dedicated a year of full-time service with City Year Rhode Island attacking our nation’s high school drop out crisis by working to keep students in school and on track to high school graduation. Aisha is excited to continue her work in education and serve at a platform where she can impact the lives of others.
